Perhaps when customers order on line, they imagine nameless, faceless people processing their order, preparing labels, boxing up ginger goodies and just being all business-as-usual.
It is simply not this way at iloveginger.com.
I personally like to wonder, who ordered this? Who is the recipient? If the product is queasy pops, I often wonder if the recipient is a pregnant lady. When it's a box of cookies, I wonder if the recipient is a small child, a grownup who likes child-like things, or what it was that struck the fancy of the person shopping.
Occasionally I enjoy the voyeuristic treat of writing out the gift cards. Recently a customer said "I love you" in a gift card -- and I was filled with the idea that maybe this was the first words of love being offered by a previously silent suitor. And so I figured out how to print this message on a card just below the iloveginger.com logo. I must say, I was pretty pleased with myself at this leap into technology. This customer probably received the most agonized-over gift wrapping and gift messaging that has taken place so far at iloveginger. I hope the gift, and the words, are well received.
